Open Broadcast is Switzerland’s first user generated radio. It broadcasts the content developed by the Open Broadcast Community on the Open Broadcast Platform – the thesis of the experiment being: a swarm of committed users (principle Crowdsourcing) generates a program, which is just as good as that of a conventional editorial staff.
As the place of media production the platform connects a high quality work environment with a comprehensive media archive. Diverse tool modules are at hand representing the separate steps of a radio production. With those our users generate radio content.
The community of Open Broadcast forms based on common interests in music, culture and science. In a free exchange of ideas, content and knowledge this community collaboratively develops a radio program. Editorial decision processes will be open and transparent.
Open Broadcast started broadcasting on January 1, 2010, with music playlists and live broadcasts off the mainstream – historically interested and currently involved. Word content will be added at a later date. As of November 15, 2009, we're already broadcasting an editorial "state of affairs" regarding the advancements of our experiment.
Open Broadcast Platform wants to create an internationally relevant internet platform for protagonists of science, culture and media. In the course of time a growing community shall be producing a science and culture radio of high quality on this platform. To achieve this we are anticipating the collaboration with universities, colleges of higher education, art exhibition halls, performing arts hosts and media enterprises.
By making the production and discussion of media content publicly available, Open Broadcast furthers the forming of opinion as it is essential in democracies.
Open Broadcast operates non commercially and nonprofit on the principles of Open Source, Open Content and Open Access.
